1day had gone by. Everything was ready for the funeral. Only the pictures and music needed to be arranged. Zoe had called Elise and uncle Cedric the day before to tell the news. They couldn't care less. "It's not Cedric's mom. So why would we?" Elise had said.
It was Sunday morning. Calum had stayed over again and Uncle Nick, Aunt Riani and Brad and Aiden came over to arrange everything. The family had stayed in a hotel so they were as close to Zoe as possible. They had send the invites for the funeral to their family and gran's closest friends. Now they were discussing pictures and music. It was harder than it looked.
Zoe was going through the pictures from the boxes they got from gran's attic. Flounder, gran's cat came along as well. Zoe couldn't let the little kitten stay at the empty apartment. Zoe had named her Flounder when gran got the kitten for her birthday in August.
Calum had the little kitty on his lap as he patted it and looked at the pictures Zoe was showing him.
"Oh God, this is when I was eating my first ice cream at the beach." Zoe squeeled out and showed Calum the picture. It was a four year old Zoe with her mouth full of ice cream and her gran and mom beside her, trying to wipe her little face.
Calum giggled and looked at his fetus girlfriend on the photo. She had light brown curly hair and her eyes were filled with joy. His girlfriend was litterally the cutest. She flipped through the heaps of pictures and smiled with everything she saw. Uncle Nick and aunt Riani were sitting on the other side of the table, going through more pictures while Brad and Aiden tried to find her favorite albums in the boxes they had moved to Zoe's house.
"Wait... gran liked Blink-182?" Brad suddenly sounded as he showed the Blink-182 album he had found in the box.
"Yeah, kind of. Me and your dad used to blast this album through the house and she liked it weirdly enough so we bought her the album. She really liked 'I miss you'. It was her favorite song." uncle Nick told Zoe with a small smile, remembering the good old times.
"Me and my band play that song a lot when we're together. Do you want us to play it live at the church?" Calum suggested, Flounder still on his lap. Nick and Riani looked at each other and then at Calum.
"That would be really nice, Calum." Riani said with a smile.
"I'll text my bandmates to ask if they're okay with it." He stated and took his phone out. Zoe started going through the pictures again as Brad put the album on the table so they wouldn't forget about it and went back to the boxes to find other things.
"I like this picture of her and mom." Zoe said and showed a picture to everyone. Nick nodded, remembering what happened there.
"It was at the beach when we celebrated grans birthday. Only Joe and Aiden were born, so it was just me, your mom and dad, Riani and those two guys." He said, pointing at another photo where Joe and Aiden were on, smiling like absolute fools. "Gran wanted a picture of her daughter and herself and she never really told why." Zoe nodded and looked at the picture again. She smiled. Her mom was such a beautiful woman. She hoped she would turn out that pretty when she grew older.
They had gone through every picture and found the perfect one to put with her coffin in church. Zoe invited her friends to the funeral as well. They had a great impact on gran's life as much as they did on Zoe's.
When they had chosen the picture and brought up some more memories, they went for food together. Then Nick and his family went back to the hotel and Calum stayed with Zoe.

It was the day of the funeral and Zoe was getting ready in her room when Calum walked in. He was wearing skinny jeans and a white button up shirt. He looked sharp as always. Zoe smiled at him in the mirror and fixated her eyes on her own reflection again. She was wearing a black dress and her brown hair was curled. Calum walked up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist, resting his head on her shoulder.
"You look beautiful, baby boo." he said and she smiled. She placed her hands over his on her stomach and looked at their reflection. They looked picture perfect. Calum smiled at her and pecked her cheek.
"Finish up, baby. It's almost time to go." He said and let go of her. Zoe nodded and did her makeup, pinned in earrings, put on bracelets and a necklace her gran got her one time for her birthday. She took one more look in the mirror and went downstairs where Calum and Uncle Nick with his family were waiting. Zoe got in her black heels with open toe and took a purse where she put her phone in. She was all ready to go. Nick drove everyone to church and the funeral began.
The priest talked about something religious before Nick went up to the microphone and started talking. Zoe was sitting next to Calum and behind her were her friends. Tears were already streaming down her face, smudging the makeup she had just done. Calum grabbed her hand and tangled their fingers together.
"Linda Brown. Mom, grandmother, wife and friend.
You were my mom and I know I haven't been the perfect son, I tried to. I tried everyday to impress you with everything I could. I was the youngest of your two sons and I had to impress you. Tom would always be the one to get the better grades, the most atlethic, the most talented. It was hard to beat that, but at some point you told me I didn't need to impress you. You were happy with me and you were proud of me. Every single moment we shared, everything you have said to me, I will keep it in mind and in my heart.
My dearest mom, you were a strong, inspiring and wise woman to everyone in this room. But mostly to me and Tom. You're with him now. Take good care and tell him I said hi. I love you, mother. Forever and always." He ended his speech in tears and walked back to his spot next to Riani and Zoe.
The priest talked about more things and read something from the bible. Zoe hated this religious stuff, but she had to do it for her grandmother. She looked at the picture next to her coffin. She smiled and got up when she needed to do her speech. She took out the small paper where she had written down some words. Calum looked at her with a reassuring smile and so did Jenn. Zoe drew in a deep breath before she started.
"Granny, today is the day we say goodbye to you. I already had to say goodbye to mom and dad and Joe."
Jenn tapped on Calum's shoulder.
"Who's Joe? And why did she need to say goodbye to her parents?" nobody knew about Zoe's past, only Calum and her own family.
"She'll explain later." Calum whispered, not taking his eyes off of his girlfriend.
"I guess I'm getting used to it, to people leaving me. I read the letter you left me before you died. I smiled and cried when reading it. I remembered you tucking me under when I was just a little Zoe. I remembered you telling mom and dad's story before I went to bed. You told me how they fell in love with each other and you said to me; You will find your one and only when you're older, sugar plum. One day, you will find someone who will love you as much as your dad loved your mom. I remembered thinking I wanted to become a princess and that I would marry a prince who would be my one and only. Someone like prince Eric, from the little Mermaid." Zoe smiled at the memory and looked at Calum. He smiled at her, knowing what she was talking about. "When I was four and mom and dad left, I remembered those words you said before I went to bed. I remembered thinking I didn't want my prince to kill me. I kept that in mind for the past years and now that I'm eighteen, I found my prince who loves me as much as my dad loved my mom. And I'm glad you had the opportunity to meet him. I'm glad I found my prince Eric before you died, so I could show him to you and have you ask him stupid questions. I'm happy you approved of him, because, granny, he will be by my side for the rest of my life. You will be able to see that and he will stick to his promise. We both know you're watching us and we know you will do whatever it takes when he doesn't stick to his promise." Zoe laughed a little and so did the people in the room. "I promise you, gran. I will start dancing again and I will live my life to the fullest. Just because you asked me to. I don't want to dissapoint you. I want you to be proud of me, so that's what I'm gonna do. You might be up there with mom and dad and Joe and granddad, but I know you'll be proud of me. I won't let you down, I promise."
Zoe folded the paper up again and wiped away the tears, a few sobs escaping from her pink lips.
"Take good care, granny. I love you." She ended and went back to Calum's side. She felt two hands on her shoulder. She looked back and Jenn and Ashton smiled at her comfortingly. Calum grabbed her hand again and held it until the boys had to play gran's favorite song.
"Now we're going to listen to Linda's favorite song I miss you by Blink-182, covered by 5 Seconds Of Summer. You can look at the pictures her son and granddaughter had picked out." the priest said.
The boys got ready and started playing the song. Calum started to sing while photos from when gran was younger appeared on a big screen.
"Hello there, the angel from my nightmare
The shadow in the background of the morgue
The unsuspecting victim of darkness in the valley
We can live like Jack and Sally if we want
Where you can always find me
We'll have Halloween on Christmas
And in the night we'll wish this never ends
We'll wish this never ends"
Calum looked at Zoe and smiled at her. She smiled back while tears rolled down her face.

"I miss you miss you
I miss you miss you"
Luke walked to the microphone and started singing the next bit.

"Where are you and I'm so sorry
I cannot sleep I cannot dream tonight
I need somebody and always
This sick strange darkness
Comes creeping on so haunting every time
And as I stared I counted
Webs from all the spiders
Catching things and eating their insides
Like indecision to call you
and hear your voice of treason
Will you come home and stop this pain tonight
Stop this pain tonight"
Then Luke and Calum sang the chorus together with Ash and Mike being backing vocals.

"Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head
miss you miss you
Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head
miss you miss you

Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head
I miss you miss you
Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head
I miss you miss you"
The screen showed pictures from the last time they had a family party, which was Christmas 2011. A fifteen year old Zoe was smiling next to her gran and Brad was photobombing behind them. Zoe smiled, remembering that time.

"Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head
I miss you miss you
Don't waste your time on me you're already
The voice inside my head
I miss you miss you

I miss you miss you
I miss you miss you
I miss you miss you"
The people in church wiped away their tears as the boys walked back to their seats. The priest finished the funeral with some wise words before everyone could go home. Zoe and her friends went to her house to chat up a bit and keep Zoe's mind off of things. Tine and Johanna had gone home, so it was only Jenn, Yasmine and the boys. They were talking in the living room with Flounder walking around and asking pats and cuddles from everyone.
"I think you need to explain something, Zo." Jenn started carefully. Zoe's smile faded away and she bit down her lip.
"W-What do you mean?" She tried, not wanting to talk about it.
"About your mom and dad and Joe." Yasmine replied softly as Flounder sat on her lap. She patted the white kitten with brown dots on her furr.
"Well... uh... when-when I was four, my parents were in a heated argument. I couldn't sleep because of the noise, so I came downstairs..." she paused for a second and played with the bracelets around her scarred wrist. The scars were fading away, so they weren't that noticable. "My dad, he-he had a gun which was pointed towards my mom. H-he pulled the trigger. I saw all of it. My dad looked so scared. He went to get something, so I didn't see him anymore. There was another gunshot. When I walked into the kitchen, I saw both of them lying on the ground. Lifeless, covered in blood. My neighbours came to our house, they must've heard it. They took me and Joe to uncle Cedric, who I now call my dad. He was my dad's brother and he didn't have kids nor a girlfriend or wife at the time. So I needed to stay there with Joe. Cedric met Elise and they got married. I got bullied at my old school. They knew what my father had done and they called him a freak, so we moved. Elise didn't like it, but we had to. I was eleven when we moved here. I didn't tell anyone about my parents, I was scared they might bully me again. Joe did tell everyone and he got bullied. Elise used to hit him whenever he did something wrong or got bad grades. My brother couldn't take it anymore, so he comitted suicide. I always thought love killed, like I told you everytime, but Calum made me realise not everyone shows his love in that way. He made me see things I've never seen before. I could always hide behind my label and popularity, but with Calum I just feel free. I feel like I can be myself." Jenn and Yasmine had tears rolling down their cheeks and the other guys looked at Zoe with sympathy. They didn't know what to do or what to say.
"Zoe, I'm so sorry. I didn't know that." Jenn cried and hugged her best friend.
"You couldn't know. I never told you." Zoe said in tears into Jenn's neck. "By the way." She pulled Jenn away and looked into her eyes. "Did you know we used to be in ballet when we were three? Elise pulled us away from each other, but we have known each other since we're three." Zoe explained.
Jenn's face lit up.
"Really?"
"Yeah, my mom wrote about it in a letter and you were on a video she left me." Jenn smiled and took Zoe in for another hug.
"I just knew I recognized you from somewhere." Jenn cried and let out a laugh.
When everyone had stopped crying, they watched a movie. Zoe couldn't really pay attention and neither did Calum.
"I'm very proud of you for telling them." He whispered in her ear as he traced up and down her arm.
"I never thought I could do it." She whispered back and looked at him. He turned his head as well and stared into her eyes.
"I'm glad I met your gran, baby boo and I'm glad I can be your prince Eric." She smiled at him and crashed her lips onto his. That's a while ago and it felt better than before. It felt... more real. Those past few days made Zoe realize how much she really loved this guy and that she wanted to spend her life with him. A voice in her heart told her that and that voice was her granny.
