“I'm really sorry I keep staring but i dreamed about you horribly dying last night and i just wanted to make sure you don't spontaneously combust.” AU.

Sam Winchester was in love. And when Sam was in love, he knew something must be going wrong. He was getting used to losing his loved ones. It happened multiply times. That’s why when he met Lieke Tennant he didn’t want to start something in the first place. But that woman was something different. It felt so good to be around her. To make her feel safe.
But he was still scared. It had been five years now and while he almost died multiply times, she never came close. Even Dean, his brother, made sure it’d all be okay.
The first time Sams girlfriend died, he dreamt about it beforehand. He never took actions and that had always bothered him. But those dreams went away a long, long time ago. That’d never happen again. He was sure of it.

Until he had a dream again. He was in his hotelroom together with Dean, Cas and Lieke. They were all sleeping and he was laying awake. Lieke in his arm, softly snoring. Which he loved about her. But then she started shaking. Her whole body was shaking and her eyes went white. He tried to wake her, but it didn’t work and before he could do anything she got stabbed. No knives anywhere, but she really got stabbed ten times. Her body bleeding out. He tried to help, but his hands were stuck. In fact, his whole body didn’t react. And before he realised, he was sitting straight up in his bed.
When he woke up, everybody was fine.
But the rest of the day Sam couldn’t think straight at all. He kept staring at Lieke. And she started to notice

“Sam, is something wrong with me? You keep staring at me and honestly.. I’m getting a bit scared.” Lieke said. They were outside, searching for some ghosts his bones. They couldn’t find it, so they split up. But even then, he kept staring, as if he wasn’t even searching.
“Oh, sorry!” he said quickly. “I’m sorry I keep staring, but I dreamed about you horribly dying last night and I just want to make sure you don’t spontaneously combust.”
“You saw me dying?”
Lieke stopped walking. She knew about Sams past. And she didn’t want to hear this.
“I... don’t think it was a new psykick dream. I think it was just a stupid dream. But I don’t know for sure.”
“Those dreams stopped right, Sam?” Lieke asked silently.
Sam realised what was happening. Lieke was getting scared and he didn’t want that to happen at all. He quickly grabbed her and pulled her closer. She let it all happen. She was safe, so close to Sam. Or atleast she always felt that way.
“Those dreams stopped.” he comfirmed. “But I wanted to make sure.”
“I get you, Sammy. But it just scared me. I don’t want to do just yet.”
She loved calling him Sammy. Only she and Dean were allowed to. Sometimes it sounded weird to people, because she obviously was the short and tiny one in the relationship.
“I’m sure it’s all gonna be fine.” he said, before he quickly kissed her.
“Now let’s continue the search.”

Thirty minutes later they finally found the grave. Sam started digging. No way he’d let Lieke do that. She sat down and stared at her boyfriend. She never imagined dating someone so strong and good looking. But her she was.
“Lieke! Look out!” Sam screamed, but it was to late. Lieke didn’t hear him and before she could reject, she felt a bullet go through her body. The pain was awful. Something she never felt before. She felt herself fell to the side and Sams arm immediately around her body.
“I’m so sorry, Lieke, please hold on.” she heard him say, before everything went black.

“Sam, don’t worry. You know she will wake up. It’s just a matter of time. She was shot in her shoulder. It’s just the pain and the medicine that’s letting her sleep. She probably just wants to sleep.”
Lieke slowly woke up from Deans voice. A soft smile formed around her lips because of his words.
“I’m here.” she said, trying to sit up. Well, that wasn’t the best idea she had. Pain shot through her shoulder and her back.
“Who shot me?” was the first thing Lieke asked.
“The ghost.” Dean said, while Sam sat down beside her and grabbed her left hand.
“And what about the bones, are they burned now?” she asked scared.
“Yes, it’s taken care of and you have to be lucky that ugly ghost wasn’t a good shot.” Dean answered. He showed her a slight smile.
Then she turned her head to look at Sam. His eyes were still red, which meant he had cried. But he looked stronger now. He was smiling again, happy she was back with him.
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know. I-“
“Don’t worry, you couldn’t have known.”
“But if I searched faster. If I didn’t tell you about my dream. This wouldn’t have happened!”
He was so frustrated with himself that Lieke didn’t even know what to say.
“I would have happened anyway. That ghost, that man, he was mad. He’d have been there once we found the grave. No matter when, no matter where.”
“You know she’s right, Sammy.” Dean came inbetween.
“I know, but it hurts.”
A silence came over the room. Lieke decided she wanted to speak to Sam alone. She asked Dean to get some coffee, although she wasn’t even sure she was allowed to get it. But atleast she had some time alone with Sam.
She grabbed his hand to pull him closer. He was so close to her now that she felt his fast breathing. He was still upset and it made her feel worse.
“Sam, it wasn’t your fault. And I’m fine. And I’m never ever leaving you.”
She stroked his cheeks and looked him in the eye.
“I love you, you know that.” Sam whispered. “You’re stronger than me sometimes.”
Lieke started laughing. “I learned that from you, dumbass.”
She pecked his lips quickly and sighed.
“Now we’re gonna put this behind us and move on. It’s gonna be fine. Promise?”
Sam smiled and nodded. “I promise.” he said, before he kissed her slowly. She closed her eyes and let herself drift away from the pain and everything around them.
She felt his hand softly holding her neck, before she heard the door open and Dean saying: “Oh god, I am gone for a few minutes!”
“Please stay away a bit longer.” Sam said without looking up from Liekes lips. “Oh and please leave the coffee!”
